Top 10 Flat Irons

Flat IronI keep thinking this pin straight hair is going to go out of style soon, but it just keeps on truckin’. ;) Michelle Mooney has an article with comments of her top 10 flat irons (with a quick and dirty nickname beside each – go to her article to see why they get that nickname!). She must know her some flat irons – here are her 10 faves, be sure and check out the article as to why she likes them so well.

1. Sedu Ionic Ceramic Tourmaline 1 1/2″ Flat Iron (The Bestseller)

2. Chi Original Ceramic 1″ Flat Iron (The Pro)

3. Solia Pink 1″ Tourmaline Ceramic Ionic Flat Iron (Middle name: Versatility..lol)

4. Metropolis Technology T-Iron Tourmaline Ceramic 1″ Flat Iron (The Mac Daddy of Techno)

5. Sedu Revolution Professional Nano Tourmaline 1″ Ionic Styling Iron (The Newbie)

6. T# Tourmaline Wet-to-Dry Flat Iron (1 3/4″) (The Powerhouse)

7. GHD 1″ Ceramic Hair Straightener

8. Ergo Prosleeker Ceramic Mini Flat Iron 1″ (The Sleek Seeker)

9. Hai Convertible 1-1/4″ Ceramic Flat Iron (The Multitasker)

10. Corioliss Tourmaline Ceramic Wet to Dry Flat Iron 1.75″ (Quicksilver)

There is more technology in a flat iron than you can shake a stick at these days. It is really a little mind boggling. I am pretty sure I have never writtten “Tourmaline” in my whole life as much as I have in the last 30 minutes. Of these 10, the Sedu Revolution is the only one I have tried, but I have a couple more at home that I like just fine too. Slated next to try on my list is one of the wet/dry irons – have you tried them? I am going to have to let my hair grow back out a bit before I am flat iron material again though…

I LOVE my CHI. Love. I have also tried the Metropolis, it is quite good as well, but the outside of the iron gets too hot, and it is not quite as awesome as CHI.

I too am curious about wet/dry and will wait for that post!!

I love my CHI! What can you say. I have tried most of the listed flat irons and I have stayed true to the original. I am very scared about flat ironing my hair with the wet to dry although T3 is a great choice. Metropolis is great as well! I have heard the american idol winner actually uses FHI Iron. Who new!

Great article, who knew there were so many different irons? I love my CHI, that’s for sure, but it’s nice to read about all of the irons out there.

I haven’t tried the wet to dry, but I keep hearing the metropolis tech iron is the best out there, I want to buy that one next time!

I’m glad you all enjoyed this – it was a useful article, I thought. Some of these irons are so expensive, it is nice to have help separating the weeds from the chaff. I can’t wait to try the wet/dry myself. Thanks so much for taking the time to comment. :)

Thanks for publishing my flat iron article Christina! I would like to pass along a very important flat iron tip:
When storing your flat iron, you should never, ever, never wrap the power cord around it. I really cannot stress this point enough. Wrapping the electrical cord around a flat iron causes damage and stress to the connection points and will lead to damage of both the iron and the cord. I wish I could tell you how many people complain that their flat iron broke after 3 months and it’s usually cord damage. When storing your flat iron, bundle the cord loosely and lay the cord next to the iron. This will prolong the life of your flat iron, guaranteed.

I am a salon manager of a fairley large salon in the UK. I would have to say GHD straighteners are easily the best straightening iron out there in terms of brand image and sales. The only other Straighteners we sell apart from ghd is Vogetti. GHD’s forever – they will never leave our salon http://www.haircareheaven.co.uk

I had a CHI and loved it but I started using a SuperStar about 1 yr ago and I find it is much better for my hair and NEVER snags on or pulls out my hair as much as my CHI did.

Has anyone tried the Paul Mitchell Pro Smoothers?

  • Sheila

the best straightening iron out there is FHI Heat Runway. I’m surprised its not on this list. Its very pricey…400$ But its the best iron in the market today…only exclusive celebrities hair stylist use it. Its incredible…you can only buy it in certain stores and I hear its getting more expensive!! anwyays it has nano and tourmaline technology, never snags, goes up 450 degrees, it flips curls, straightens, and its wet to dry also!!! google it!

  • ashaboo7

hi well i’ve used my cuzs’s flat iron who’s is 400 and its really good and i’ve used my friends who has a chi but im not satisfied with mine which i bought about 4 or so yrs ago and it gets my hair straighter then my others that i’ve tried and its only was only $200, it gets up to 400 degrees, and is a wet dry iron its perfect. its by mark garrison and can only be bought online or in cali but its the best one out there hope i helped

  • Koen

Hi Sheila, I agree. FHI Heat Runway is the absolute best flat iron in the market. I am also surprised there is no FHI Heat flat iron in this list.

I live in the UK – i have heard of FHI but does anyone know a website that sells them

  • http://www.ghdstylerstockists.co.uk GHD Styler Stockists

I used GHD, Vogetti and the Paul Mitchell Pro Smoother – out the 3 would definately recommend the GHD. Better heat regulation, great versatility and a 2 year warranty.

  • Linda

The FHI is the best!! While I can’t afford the Platform model, I have the 207RVl….variable heat settings. I love it!! I have coarse, wavy hair and I’m obsessed with it being totally straight. The FHI should be at the top of this list.

    I absolutely LOVE GHD’s – they’re the best!

  • Stacy

I have a sneaking suspicion that post is a “sponsored post” from Folica.com They just so happen to sell every one of the products mentioned. That’s why you don’t see other brands mentioned that Folica doesn’t sell. How about some full disclosure so we can make wise choices about how we spend our hard earned dollars.

  • http://www.simplystraighthair.com grace

I am surprised that FHI is not on the list! The FHI 1″ Ceramic & Tourmaline Platform has gotten amazing reviews and it has the best nano technology of any flat iron out there.

  • http://diymyhair.com/Ghd-Straighteners Ghd Straighteners

Thank you! I really like this. If want buy? I recommend this site: http://www.diymyhair.com. They are a good seller.

  • Melissa

I use a great flat iron that should be here in this list, it’s the Karmin G3 Salon Pro which works amazing and keeps the hair soft, shiny and super straight. I totally recommend it !! :D

  • Monique

I use a great flat iron that I think should be in this list, it’s one of the best flat irons that I’ve used, it’s the Karmin G3 Salon Pro, it has tourmaline ceramic plates that cause less damage to the hair and keeps my hair amazing, soft , shiny and very straight. :D I luv it !!

  • Mary Ask

I’ve tried different brands of products and the best flat iron for me is the Karmin G3 Salon Pro, it works pretty good, removes static and leaves my hair silky and shiny, I luv it! :)

  • Laura

I honestly think Karmin has the best flat irons. They can be expensive but they’re the best quality I’ve ever used. I have the Karmin Titanium but the new G3 looks very tempting :) They last for ages and they straighten perfectly! (I got mine from Beyas)

  • Amberr

Wet/Dry Irons dont do any good. I had a ConAir one, and it didn’t do ANYTHING. Also, if you straighten your hair while its wet, it heats up the water on your hair and kills it. DONT DO IT!!!
