I had a blast this past Saturday at Prescriptives Custom Blend event at Macy’s in the Lehigh Valley Mall. I arrived with my entourage in tow (ie. my mom, aunts and cousin) and was greeted by Laura. I then took a spot in the chair and the very lovely and gorgeous (ie. perfect skin) Sue came over to work her magic on me. Believe me, I needed some “magic” desperately as I had to arrive without makeup on. So this meant, red splotchy skin. Yuck.

Sue had the Custom Blender come over so they could take a look at my skin and determine what my Colorprint was. They also looked at the inside of my wrist. While my concealer, foundation and powder were being formulated, Sue applied Prescriptives Super Line Preventor (awesome stuff–review to come) to my face, followed by their Anti-AGE Advanced Protection Lotion.
By then my customized makeup was ready, but when Sue opened the bottle of foundation, my mouth dropped a little. I was confused and told her that it seemed really pink–since I have so much red in my skin, I was nervous that this would bring it out even more. Sue explained to me that my skin had red and blue undertones, so they add red and blue to the formulation of the foundation. Since the foundation will now match my skin tone, it won’t actually appear redder or blotchy looking, but will appear more even-toned…and she was right.
For those with Rosacea, I did ask if this was appropriate for you. I was told that most people with Rosacea do need a red/blue based foundation and not the typical yellow/green that is widely sold in stores. This would help explain why I looked so weird when I’ve tried yellow and green concealers in the past.
The concealer was fabulous at covering up my unforgiveable acne (which I can’t believe I still get at 33!) and although the powder looked super pale, it was translucent and was very fine in texture.
The most amazing thing to me wasn’t just how light and airly this makeup felt on, but how soft my skin felt when I took off my makeup that night! I credit that to the Super Line Protectant and Anti-AGE.
A big thanks to Sue, Laura and the rest of the gals at Prescriptives for making me feel special and helping me to look great.
Readers, please keep in mind when commenting that 1. I was having a super bad hair day and 2. the flash on my camera makes me look paler than I am.
Stay tuned to reviews of the lip products and skin products used in this little makeover.
