Deep V Neck Tee = The Douchebag Tee??

american-apparel-deep-vneck-shirt Radar is ranting about what they call an “insidious epidemic” that is the deep v neck tees also known as “the douchebag neck” tees. Furthermore, they’re blaming American Apparel for introducing such atrocity in the world of Men’s Fashion.

…much of the blame can be placed on American Apparel. The phalanx of twentysomething professional men who are exchanging their uniform of striped, untucked dress shirts for plunging necklines take their cues from Dov Charney‘s magic factory. Sure, these dudes may need to throw another $40 at the bouncer to get that “strict” dress code policy waived, but it’s a small price to pay for how much hotter they’ll look dribbling $20 margs on their exposed, baby-soft chests

After reading the entire article at Radar, I tried to recall if I’ve ever raved let alone feature deep v-neck shirts here at She Knows Best. I don’t think I have and certainly wouldn’t start now. Especially after seeing that deep v-neck shirt from American Apparel. Aren’t I the one who keeps telling Chris Daughtry to button up his shirts? :).

I’m trying to figure out what fashion goal this accomplishes. If you’ve got a muscular chest, this breaks up the definition produced by a full-collared, tighter fitting tee shirt with an awkward additional line. If you don’t, why are you showcasing the area? The only logical thought is the “follow the fashion” goal, that is, a bunch of (but not too many) people are buying this, I better too. I’ve never supported such a goal.

V necks are sick and this guy is a tool for sure!

I gotta second Barry’s observation here. This is one fashion trend that does not work with us guys. To me, this is going way beyond even wearing a halfway unbuttoned dress shirt like you’re Mr. Rico Suave! It’s just awkward.

i started wearing V necks a couple of years ago so my mom would stop getting me and my brothers undershirts confused. After getting my chest piece i began to wear deep V’s or super V’s. I do agree too many people are wearing them but i can’t stop that. But i wouldn’t hate on everyone with them because some of us are just trying to show off the artwork we have on our bodies.

I dont love this look on men but the american apparel unisex deep v looks great on girls! Its just low enough to show chest bone but not cleavage. and its only 20 bucks!

You can say that the Deep V Neck says something about who the person is. But what it says is soley dependant on who is being told. Like the Radar article said, it does look attractive “to the fashion elite”. But if youre not the “fashion elite”, then why the fuck are you so concerned with anyone elses style? ;)

The alternative is for men who want a deep v-neck to wear as an UNDERshirt.

I learned about these from several forums for men that discuss proper ways of dressing – and for men who wear polos and other open collared shirts, they know it’s unacceptable for the top of the T-shirt to show UNLESS the t-shirt is the exact color as the shirt you are wearing, which is highly unlikely.

These American Apparel deep v-necks are better fitting and have more length than other brands, making them an expensive, but superior alternative for the man who tries to dress properly.

This is where these deep v-necks come in. With these the problem with T-shirts showing underneath any shirt is ELIMINATED.

Still confused on why exactly everyone gives half a crap on their own genders appearance unless they themselves have to criticize others to feel better OR they themselves are homosexual (which is understandable then). At any rate I highly enjoy wearing V-necks, though I don’t wear the deep V’s that often.

stop hating people. let people wear what makes them feel good. if you don’t like it, avert your eyes and don’t wear it yourself. in my opinion, i like seeing guys with muscle in the deep v-necks (and for those who are asking themselves. yes, i’m gay! yes, i like to see a man’s chests! and yes, i like to show off my own chest!). as a guy with a bit of muscle definition, i love wearing these shirts. they are comfy, cool, and offer the perfect amount of man cleavage without going shirtless or wearing a half-buttoned oxford. finally, the world of men’s fashion is already so limited. so stop trying to prevent its expansion.

deep v necks are a new staple in my wardrobe and it is here to stay if i have anything to do with it. so, men with deep v’s poke out your chests!

for the most part, the simple hell you guys give other people is unnecessary. this website is unnecessary actually, becaue it belittles another human being, and thats something you wouldn’t want to happen to you – so don’t do it to another person.

let people exist, everyone wants to be loved.

      get off yourself

To be honest i only started wearing them recently. My mom had a white one that got full of holes so she let me sleep in it and I really started to like it. Then I went out and I bought guys deep v necks. I honestly do like them, even though I admit I may have been influenced a little by snl.

This is the stupidest fucking thing. What a person wears doesn’t determine there personality. People who bag on what other people wear are fuckin douche’s. Tough guys to geeks all wear these shirts. I find them comfy and they show of all my tattoo work nicely. As for undershirts, you might aswell just buy a regular tee LOL
