Eye Color-Enhancing Mascaras: Are They Worth the Fuss?

Eye color-enhancing mascaras. Nearly every makeup line has added one lately (like Cover Girl’s Exact Eyelights, seen here), but are they worth all the fuss?

I must say, I am completely intrigued. The thought of using light reflectors to illuminate one’s complexion is certainly commonplace in the cosmetics world these days, but does the same thought process hold true for mascara as well? Can these formulas really make my baby blues more babyish? I really want to know!

True, I could run out and buy any number of these things at a drugstore and it’ll only set me back somewhere in the neighborhood of $8-$10. But, I’m cheap. So I’m hoping you can help.

Have you tried these? If so, were you impressed? Are they worth upping a ten spot for or would I be better off spending that money on a giant plate of nachos?

If you’ve tried these eye color-enhancing mascaras, let us know. I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s been dying to give them a whirl. If you’ve got the scoop, bring it – we’d be much appreciative, for sure!

of course they are worth it provided you buy the right stuff. you should also see to it that you use the mascaras that are not too harsh on your skin.

I’m a new reader here, HI!

Yes, I’ve tried this very product hoping to hi-light the blue in my aqua colored eyes…did it work…nope…I did not get the extention power of my regular mascara (Cover Girl-Lashexact) and it made my eyes itchy.

I was so excited about these–but no, the mascara for hazel eyes did not do anything beyond what a normal mascara does. I’m sticking with my tubes mascara, that does the job great.

I love this stuff, but no, it didn’t make my eyes any bluer. I layer the CG one above (in Black Sapphire) under their new Lash Blast Luxe (in Black Royale). It gives nice length plus volume as a combo. It’s also a nice soft black, because I am VERY, VERY fair and usually can’t wear Black or even Black/Brown combos.

I bought the mascara for green eyes and of course it is just a gimmick. I knew better than to believe the hype but I fell for it anyway. This mascara is nothing special.

Well, I can say that the Cover Girl Eye Lights did diddly squat for my brown eyes. In fact, the color they recommend for brown eyes is black, which, surprise surprise, is the color of most mascara anyway. So, it was a complete waste of my cash

A friend of mine has tried one of them and fell in love with it. I don’t remember the brand, in fact I came here to try and remember. I just bought the Cover Girl version and am hoping for the best. A tip: My friend used a color enhancing eyeliner as well and for an extra ‘wow’ factor for special occasions, a touch of shimmery green (she has green eyes) eye shadow at the outside corner of her eye.

It may all be a bluff, but I’m not opening the packaging of my new mascara until I find the brand she used :)
