Looky these adorable heels recently worn by Spain’s Princess Letizia. Today’s fashion feature is a look at one red and one black pair, both high and both royally cute.
Princess Letizia wore this red velvety pair to the inauguration of PhotoEspana 2009 art festival at the Madrid Botanical Garden on June 3, 2009. It evokes a gladiator feel without going overboard. The Crown Princess, who is petite, always wears towering platform heels like this (having a very tall husband in Crown Prince Felipe pretty much necessitates it). At the art exhibit, she partnered these shoes with a flower print dress and a purple clutch.

Next up are these black peep-toes. I like the lacy uppers on this one (click on image for a closer look). Princess Letizia wore these with a cropped trousers and a shiny bag at a charity bullfight at the Las Ventas Arena in Madrid, also on June 3, 2009. It was also during in this event where the crown couple helped a woman who had fainted in the crowd.
As always, part of the fun of watching royal fashion is identifying the designers/sources. So fire away if you can tell where these came from!
Update (06-09-09): I have IDs on some of these items, thanks to the fine members of The Purse Forum! Princess Letizia’s purple crocodile clutch is by Nancy Gonzalez; the other bag is a Loewe. The raffia and wood platforms are by Armand Basi, available for $550 at The Shoe Box.
