Mom Style: Holiday Mama

By Guest Blogger Teresa Louise Johnson

This is the time of year we get to go all out and have fun with our clothes, moms! We get to leave the kids home and go to parties dressed to the nines. This is the time of year our children get to watch us get ready, wondering at the creams, powders, and eyelash curlers, and find themselves holding tight to the lovely scents we’ve left behind.

I’ve found the perfect party dress and whether you wear it with tights underneath, high boots, or skinny dark jeans and a twinkle in your eye, it will turn heads. The Green with Envy Wearable Art dress is like nothing other women at your parties will have on. It is like nothing you have worn in the past. Extremely detailed and a lovely shade of jade, I’d call it Christmas Couture.

If your style is a little less extreme, keep it simple. I’m convinced that everyone can do strapless and look ravishing. Our collarbones are sexy so why not show them off? I find that on the Neiman Marcus website, the epitome of beautiful clothing is represented (you can spend all day perusing the looks) and the Diane von Furstenberg Ruched Chiffon Dress is no exception. Ruching is so forgiving to our mother’s bodies, which have stretched and changed over the years. I’d match it to either no jewellery at all or a very heavy, large necklace. The Midnight shade of blue can handle a little sparkle…or even a lot.

For the ultimate in sophistication, the Floral-Print Charm Dress by Allen Schwartz will do you to perfection. It looks as though it’s been painted with an artist’s brush and is gorgeous with gold heels. Wear your hair sleek and definitely keep the makeup subdued for this one; the dress speaks volumes all on its own.

I love the magic of dressing up, of transforming myself into someone just a little more special and a little more fantastic than the every day me. What mom who normally has spit-up in her hair and chocolatey fingerprints on her shirt wouldn’t?
