New Years Eve Eve: Time to Plan Your ‘Do

My New Years Eve will be pretty casual – I’m planning a dinner party for a half-dozen or so of my close friends — but I’d never have it any other way. I’ve experienced the club/bar scene on this holiday – it’s truly a mob scene, and ultimately, you end up a few hundred dollars poorer, and rather disappointed.

A dinner party at home doesn’t mean I don’t plan on being festive though, I’m already considering my ‘do for the evening. This morning I consulted expert hair and makeup artist, Michelle Lo Conte, and she made an interesting suggestion: Style your hair a day dirty!

This is something I agree with – I’ve always found day-after-blowout hair to be better than day-of. Michelle concurs: “It holds up great when it has the natural oils your scalp produces by being a day dirty – no matter how you wear your hair for your holiday affair, your style will stay, perfectly and still look great the next day!”

Michelle suggests we go to the craft store and pick up some tiny rhinestones – you can jazz up your manicure with some “bling” by applying these tiny gems onto your nail bed with clear polish! These gems also look great over a funky color. “Purples, blues and silvers all ring in the New Year right!”

Finally, set your hair in Hot Rollers (or Velcro if you don’t have them) – Set your hair and hairspray the hair while its setting in the rollers – do some things around the house…paint your toenails, start your make-up then take the rollers out. Flip your head upside down and shake out the curls and finger comb through them. Add a flashy headband, rhinestone barrette or sparkly bobby pin for sensational salon hair done at home!
