SJP to design for Halston Heritage

A few seasons ago, the Weinstein company and Rachel Zoe decided to revamp Halston and bring the name back. Halston had been licensed out, which is why you run across Halston sunglasses at your local TJ Maxx for $14.99. The line is gorgeous, but probably not the smartest thing to launch during economic hardships.

It looks like most of net-a-porter.com’s collection has ended up theoutnet.com, and I’m guessing that’s because of the prices, not because of the design of the clothes. And so the group is launching Halston Heritage. It will sport the same vibe and look of classic Halston, but at “contemporary” price points. Is that the new way of saying cheaper? I sure as heck hope so.

Sarah Jessica Parker will be taking an active creative role with the brand. We saw her wearing Halston Heritage while filming the Sex & the City sequel in New York City over the summer.
