Backstage Beauty: The Blonds Fall 2010

Makeup artist Kabuki for MAC Cosmetics created the glamorous and mildly villainous look backstage at The Blonds Fall 2010 runway show this week.

Of his collaboration with the corset-loving designers, Kabuki said, “They gave me a direction but they didn’t micromanage me.”

The makeup look was mildly exaggerated to complement the clothes.  The final model, dressed in metallics, was able to be more of a “villain,” while the other girls in the show had a Jean Harlow/Marilyn Monroe and Marlena Deitrich (“when she was a nice girl”) vibe happening.

“She could be a little more evil,” said Kabuki of this final look created for The Blonds.

To get the alternate Blonds look at home, think “Dita!” and try false lashes, curled and applied in the corner of the eyes for a winged effect.

Next, using shadow, create a white eyelid with a neutral shade in crease. Precise winged eyeliner visually “lifts” the eye when applied horizonally and a matte red lip finishes the look.
