Rachel Zoe in Round Circle Sunglasses

Sunglasses with perfectly circular lenses have been a huge trend since the beginning of summer 2009.  Last year they were spotted in design collections by famous designers like Marni and Proenza Schouler and on trend-setting celebrities like Mary-Kate Olsen and Kanye West.  I haven’t been completely excited about the style because everytime I see these designs I can’t help but think of the hippie style of John Lennon, the intellectual artist style of famous male architects like Le Corbusier or Phillips Johnson, and the kooky style of the famous Jeremy Scott for Linda Farrow Mickey Mouse sunglasses that were worn by Lady Gaga.  But surprisingly I think I have finally turned…

Thanks to host of the The Rachel Zoe Project and super fabulous celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe, I finally see that these circle sunglasses can actually look chic and not just silly and costumey.  Rachel Zoe was recently spotted out shopping in NYC wearing a fashionable and classy look that included black circle sunglasses.  She paired the sunglasses with a fashionable, sophisticated, and clean outfit that included tailored black flared pants, a black long-sleeve button-up, and a cropped 3/4 sleeve two-tone fur (or maybe faux fur?) jacket.  And an Hermes bag of course!

Rachel actually makes the circle sunglasses look pretty amazing and now I understand how they can work with a sophisticated style.  If you are now sold on the circular round sunglasses look, here are a few options for you…

I feel that the idea of sunglass lenses being generally big is a trend that will never be out and will always be chic and flattering. But the circular shape of the lenses I predict will be a personal preference for few and will soon pass for the rest of us….

The Lanvin’s are my favorite of this style shown here. Your right in that it is just more recently that this style of oversized glasses became known as chic and not silly. I agree that the style will probably never go-out-of style. In terms of which pair I choose when I got out for the day, it just depends on how much sleep I got the night before! lol. The less sleep I got, the larger the lense. Silly but true.
