Fuck the Gym: Raven O Teaches You How To Exercise in Bed

When you think sexy New Yorkers, Raven O should be one of the first people to cross your mind. He’s best known for his MC act at The Box, though he started working as a personal trainer at 17, before becoming a go-go-dancer in some of New York’s most fabled nightclubs (Limelight, Palladium, and so many more). He’s come a long way from gyrating inside a cage, and these days he’s recording a Pop album and gearing up to put on a one man show at the Bleeker theatre beginning May 18th (you can buy your tickets here).

However, he did find some time in his schedule to explain how we can get a full body workout while having sex. The following are great for days when we’d rather stay in bed than go to spinning class (so, pretty much, all days).

With one partner…

Triceps, Quads and Glutes: My favourite sex workout is the bridge position from yoga. It doesn’t matter if you’re with a guy or a girl. You should be lying on your back, pull your hips up, and the person on top does a squat on top of you. When you penetrate you’ll get triceps and quads. Meanwhile, they’ll be working out their glutes. The trick is to stay up as they go down, so you have to coordinate your movements.

Core and Biceps: Your partner drops around you on one side, and you can hold their lower body. Grab their legs. Bring them in and out. You’ll get a really good bicep workout. They should hold themselves up, too, so they’ll get a core workout (great for toning your abs).

Lower Back: Turn your partner around, and they’ll get a lower back workout. Especially if you push them against the wall, so they’re propped up.

Glutes: Remember, any time you’re in a squatting position you can really work out you glutes. So when you’re administering oral sex, that’s something to keep in mind.

For a Menage a Trois…

Full Body Workout: With 3 people, you can get really creative! Try hoisting the girl, wrap your legs around her, penetrate her vagina, hold her up. That will work out your biceps. Lean back a little bit and use your core. If there’s another guy or girl, they can arch back, and lift them down or up, using your biceps, then they can bend and give the other person oral, and the other person can be wrapped around them. There’s just generally an opportunity for a lot of stretching there.

If You Happen to be Alone…

Increase Your Heart Rate for a Cardio Workout: When you hit an orgasm the heart rate goes up. So if you’re masturbating the best thing to do would be to stop right before you orgasm. Your heart rate will go up, then slow down, then go up again, and that in itself is a cardio workout. Keep doing it over and over.
