Maybe Rompers Are Okay. Maybe.

I broke down and bought a romper. Now, I realize that some people might say that rompers suck. And those people might have been me. But that was before I found my romper. It’s not like the other rompers. It doesn’t look stupidly oversized and as though it’s about to fall off. It makes me look willowy, like some kind of 1920′s Fitzgerald character. And, to be fair, when I first saw it, I thought it was just a cute sundress. The fit? The fit is pretty much perfect. I didn’t want to do it, but it made me love it.

But how hard is it to pee in? Really hard. It’s awkward. Despite some claims to the contrary – and statements that you can just maneuver them off to the side – it’s surprisingly hard to angle peeing around a piece of fabric awkwardly maneuvered to the side. Actually, you know, that’s not even that surprising. And I still feel like for that reason, if for no other, they’re not the kind of item you need to wear every day. Because you will be stuck undressing entirely in a bathroom stall hoping that the stall lock is very sturdy. But if you’re willing to deal with that? I guess they can be pretty cute. Sometimes. On a case by case basis.

I bought a romper from Modcloth and, after wearing it, realized it was dry-clean only. A dry-clean only romper? It’s the most inconvenient piece of clothing ever. Oh, and I washed it anyway, and then ended up ironing the hem. Ironing! I thought I’d be, you know, romping.

They are not for romping, Jen. They’re for Daisy Buchananing.

I think they’re fine if you get one that’s strapless or spaghetti strap. Short sleeved or otherwise is a problem if you need to go pee… and who would ever tell you to just move the fabric over? Um have fun wetting yourself!
