From Gross Sludge to High Fashion

The new company Bio-Couture is taking green fashion one step beyond reusable tote bags – they take a “hardening ooze” created by yeast and bacteria and use it to make a kind of fiber. That fiber, ultimately, can make clothes, like the jackets featured at left.

You can follow the process on Bio-Couture’s website, and if you live in London or are planning a trip there in the next few months, some of their creations are featured in the London Science Museum’s “Trash Fashion” exhibit.
