Queen Elizabeth II Is On Flickr

The British royal family is doing what they can to keep up with the times. Queen Elizabeth II now has an official, monarchy-sanctioned Flickr account. Right now most of the pictures are royal family portraits. In case you didn’t know, Elizabeth’s portrait helpfully provides biographical information:

The Queen is sovereign or head of state of some 16 countries including the UK, Australia, Canada and New Zealand.

She will celebrate 82nd birthday on the 21st April.

I like that the royal family is trying to be slightly more accessible these days, and I have to admit I am pleasantly surprised that they’re allowing comments on their photos. How long until Her Majesty gets a Tumblr?

I admire QEII so much. There’s no way it’s easy being queen – she’s lived in a fishbowl since she was a little girl; when her father died young she had to assume his job rather than taking the time to grieve; she has to be a politician without taking sides in politics, etc. – but I think she’s done it as well as anyone could have hoped.

Are you sure about that link? When I follow it, I end up at that photo, but it doesn’t appear to be any kind of official account.

I wonder where can I download an HD version of this picture of her?
