Random Acts of Violence Against Tila Tequila

Here’s some weird and disturbing news: apparently Tila Tequila was attacked with bottles, stones and firecrackers when she went onstage to perform at a concert called “Gathering of the Juggalos.” Juggalos, in case you didn’t know (I didn’t) are what fans of Insane Clown posse call themselves. Like Little Monsters, but instead of attacking the world with fashion, they attack with violence.

What’s particularly disturbing about this — I guess, once you get past the violence thing — is that it sounds like there was no one there to stop the attackers. CNN reports that:

“…a mob of hundreds chased Tequila from the stage and surrounded the trailer where she sought refuge. They rocked the trailer and smashed its windows…”

There doesn’t seem to be any footage of the subsequent attack on her trailer, but TMZ does have a video showing her onstage as she’s pelted with various types of bottles and objects, and that’s after the crowd begins yelling “show your tits!”

My question is, how did it ever get to the point that a mob engulfed her trailer? Isn’t there usually security at these things? What about police? Mall cops? Anyone? Anyone? Beuller? This is the kind of mentality that generally leads to not good things happening, and it sounds like something very bad nearly did happen, beyond the damage that was already done. Say what you will about Tila Tequila, but obviously no one deserves this and either someone is misrepresenting the event to CNN, or there was a major security oversight that led to a bunch of people with terrible taste in music very nearly doing some real damage to Ms. Tequila. Not cool.

Obviously this is terrible, and no matter what you think of her it’s wrong. One question – is her last name really Tequila? And, if not, do we reference people by their stage last names? Just made me giggle a bit when I read it.

She’s Vietnamese; her last name’s actually Nguyen.
