Going Shirtless In France Could Cost You $49

Shirtless resident of France Johnny Depp

So much for thinking that Europeans are more liberal than us: France actually has some very specific laws outlining what you can and can’t wear on and off the beach. According to World Travel Watch,

Towns such as Cannes and St. Tropez have long had rules against bikini and swimsuit attire away from the beaches, and now Perpignan in Pyrénées-Orientales and Cavaillon in Provence have laws in place to protect “human dignity” and “decency.” Violators can be fined up to 38 euros ($49). Paris has long had a law on the books that requires “decency of dress and behavior,” but enforcement there comes without a fine.

Hmmm, reminds us of another law about clothing in France that ultimately got rescinded.

Yes, yes he is. Smoking makes you look cooler, but only if you’re already cool.
