Jenni “JWoww” Farley took off her earrings, slid her rings from her fingers and cracked her knuckles today — but not in preparation for beating the shit out of one of her housemates. This time, Woww was preparing to speak on behalf of the battle against breast cancer. She showed up in her native Long Island as an ambassador for 1 in 9: The Long Island Breast Cancer Action Coalition at a Gold Coast Branch bank for the unveiling of a breast cancer awareness banner.
And while some reporters were less than thrilled over JWoww’s appearance — one asked how she could consider herself a breast cancer awareness ambassador because of her smoking habit — this reporter thinks it’s fabulous. And no, it’s not just because I think everything the “Jersey Shore” cast does is wonderful, although that might be true. I applaud her not only for taking a stand for something, but for not worrying about her less than perfect image in order to publicly support an important cause.
I also applaud her for this, according to the Long Island Daily News:
“Farley typically gets as much as $30,000 for making appearances. She attended the Gold Coast event for free.”
And finally, I salute her decision to tell the reporter questioning her lifestyle choices to fuck off. According to the Long Island Press, Ms. Woww responded by saying “It’s insulting to me to hear that because I smoke or I had a breast augmentation that I shouldn’t be here. Everyone should be here.”
I don’t know about you, but coming from JWoww, that would have been enough for me to back off for the rest of my life. Because that’s the kind of sentence that usually precedes someone getting their weave ripped out.
Anyway, her appearance is also a good reminder that if there is one “Jersey Shore” cast member you want on your side during a fight, it’s JWoww.
