When I first heard that KFC was releasing a “sandwich” comprised of bacon and cheese between two pieces of fried chicken, I felt shocked. I felt a little bit of fear as well, some sadness, and some disappointment. And, to be fair, a decent amount of curiosity. What I did not feel, surprisingly, was sick to my stomach.
But all that has changed now, with an Iowa restaurant’s release of the doughnut burger.
A slab of meat and a slice of cheese placed between a Krispy Kreme glazed doughnut, this food monstrosity was unveiled at the World Food Festival. I can honestly say that when I saw the headline announcing its arrival on the scene, I gagged.
The following video is a description, in part, of the advanced culinary skills required to make a doughnut burger. First you have to take a Krispy Kreme doughnut and cut it in half. Then you have to put a burger in there, and then you have to put the doughnut top back on. Whew!
The woman in the video, whose face is not shown, presumably because she’s selling death on a styrofoam plate, suggests leaving off the condiments because ketchup of mustard might “compromise the taste.”
