Pantone Names Honeysuckle Color of the Year

See this reddish-pink block? That would be “honeysuckle,” which Pantone just named Color of the Year (for 2011). In other words, expect to see it splashed all over your local fast fashion giants inside the next couple weeks.

Here’s Pantone’s explanation of their choice:

“Courageous. Confident. Vital. A brave new color, for a brave new world. Let the bold spirit of Honeysuckle infuse you, lift you and carry you through the year. It’s a color for every day – with nothing “everyday” about it.”

We believe you.

If you’re not convinced, read more about this “captivating, stimulating” shade over at Pantone.

Or get thee to a Bobbi Brown counter and get on this shit before everyone else.

No, this is no “everyday” color; but neither is Pepto-Bismol an everyday medicine.

Amazing. Whoever wrote the description for Pantone was clearly feeling rapture of the honeysuckle.

Japanese vining honeysuckle is one of my favorite smells, but the flower itself is yellowish… sigh.
