Have Diet Plans Worked For You?

Carnie Wilson was recently let go as a spokesperson for Fresh Diet after failing to lose enough weight. A publicist for the company claims, “We had to take her off the corporate website because she has not been a successful case. She didn’t stick to it, and she didn’t lose weight. We had to cut ties with her.’ They also remarked that she’d continue to promote a line of cheesecakes while acting as a spokesperson.

After becoming the spokesperson, Carnie Wilson acknowledged that it might be a struggle for her to lose weight, as:

‘I had a blood expert tell me that I’ve been f***ed from the start. ‘She said my pancreas is small and I’ve never been able to digest sugar, and my digestion is all screwed up. I think she’s right. It has nothing to do with my daily choices. I think it’s been my struggle forever. My own personal demons. I’m not an exercise lover and I’m a food lover, and my body doesn’t have a great metabolism. You put all that together and there’s my challenge.”

She now remarks:

“You know, after all these years, it’s just like we are who we are and it’s a struggle for me and sometimes I’m heavier and sometimes I’m thinner.”

Plans like Fresh Diet often seem initially appealing (they include Macadamia Whole Wheat Wafffles!) but they’re incredibly hard to stick to if you’re out of at dinner with friends. Or if you’re traveling, and can’t bring pre-packaged meals along with you. A lack of variety can also make them tricky to stick to, and they might not be the best option if you’re a foodie.

Maybe, like Carnie Wilson we should just accept that we are bodies are what they are. Or maybe we should just look for different diet plans that suit our individual eating styles – Carnie might prefer something like Weight Watchers. Or she might prefer just to eat some delicious cheesecake and stop worrying about this. Have diet plans worked out for you in the long run? Let us know in the comments.
