Poll: Should Zombies be the New Vampires?

It seems that everywhere you turn these days, there’s a zombie waiting to pop up and scare the bejesus out of you. I found this out the hard way after my fiance got into the blessedly short-lived AMC series, “The Walking Dead,” and now, it appears as though the phenomenon has made it’s way to Cuba.

Personally, I don’t understand the appeal. I can certainly appreciate a good vampire story — those usually have hot sex, as well as profound human-vampire love stories, and occasionally a very classy murder. But zombies? With the way they rip people apart? Well, that’s just tacky.

But, as my very own loved one proved, not everyone thinks the way I do. Does this mean that zombies are going to be the new vampires? Could it really all come to this?

Sorry! This poll is now closed.

Nah, the science fiction convention community is still reeling from the “Steampunk is the new pirate” transformation. That will need to fizzle before zombie becomes the new vampire.

I never got the appeal of vampire love stories, and I definitely don’t get the appeal of zombie love, but if there’s a market for them…
