Jessica Stam–or Stam as she is known affectionately throughout the industry (and by fans of her namesake Marc Jacobs bag)–had humble beginnings: she grew up on a farm in Ontario with six brothers and was discovered in a local Tim Horton’s. It’s surprising Stam wasn’t crowned a supermodel sooner, considering she has the two most startling, remarkable eyes in fashion. In the early 00′s, star maker Steven Meisel zeroed in on that hundred year stare, flawless skin and shuffling, girl-next-door charm, and cast her in every major campaign he had going. Soon she was the face of Valentino, Bulgari, Prada, Miu Miu, Armani, Rochas, and Dolce & Gabbana. She hasn’t slowed down any since.
