Daily Adorable: Mini Animals

CNN has a gallery up today of the cutest mini-animals to be found in nature (I guess they only left my dog out because she’s not mini — otherwise pretty much everyone agrees that she’s the cutest animal in the world).

The little nuggets include tiny pigs and foxes, and something wonderful that I’d never heard of called the Panda Cow.

I sort of wish that they had been able to control themselves when making this list, though, and not go on to say how a human can purchase most of these animals, because some of them seem like they might be happier not in domesticity (unlike my dog. STFU if you were considering making that comment), for instance, the pint-sized crocodile.

Miniature pigs–including Potbellied Pigs–take 5 years to reach full maturity, and achieve healthy adult weights ranging from 90 to 250 lbs depending on ancestry. There are no such breeds as “Micro,” “Teacup,” “Pixy,” “Dandy,” “Tiny,” “Nano,” “Pocket,” “Thimble,” “Micro-Mini” or any others you might hear and there are no domestic breeds that remain under 90 pounds at adulthood if they are healthy. These are marketing names designed to command a high price on piglets and do not accurately represent the final size or needs of the animals!
