Pre-Fall Close-Up: Alexander Wang’s ‘Rough Refinement’

With respect to his largest pre-fall collection yet, Alexander Wang intended to “showcase the core elements,” alluding to a tightened-up fall collection waiting in the wings. “I’m giving the buyers the bread and butter,” Wang told WWD, “and the dessert later.”

Wang’s pre-fall was a little looser, a little more feminine (ruffles! flounces!) than his usual work, a collection he labeled “rough-refinement.” Some notable offerings of the 27-look collection–exciting and less so–in the gallery.
