Red Carpet Rundown: The ‘Meh’ Dressed At The Golden Globes

So we already shared our picks for best dressed and worst dressed at the Golden Globes, but the fact of the matter is red carpet fashion is about as exciting as white bread with the crust cut off. With a few reliable exceptions–Tilda Swinton, Helena Bonham Carter, Bjork, Cate Blanchett–red carpet gowns are the fashion equivalent of a life preserver: there to make sure you stay afloat and about as thoughtfully designed. Let’s take a look at the most boring and predictable gowns, and a few that neither qualified as “best” or “worst.”

I actually thought Julia’s was stunning in black. The details and ruffles were enough for me to be okay with a standard color.

Wow. I thought Jayma Mays looked good on TV. But she looks like a corpse in that photo!

Angelina, Anne, and Olivia all look like they belong on the best dressed list! I HATE Sofia’s dress. It looks totally cheap and boring.

I heard Sofia had a hard time finding a dress, because everything is made for smaller women. She needs to become best friends with a designer who will custom-make gowns for her–Sofia gets dresses made for a voluptuous woman, and the designer gets great exposure on red carpets! Win-win. Too bad I can’t sew worth shit.

Angelina’s dress looks like a mother of the bride dress from 1985–that one should be on the worst dressed list. On the other hand, I really liked Olivia Wilde’s dress, along with Natalie Portman’s. In general, this year’s Globes had far too much nude/peach/blah going on.

Jayma Mays does not have the bust to pull off that dress.

Finally someone who agrees that Olivia Wilde’s dress was bad. She looks like she’s going to the junior prom.
