What’s it like being the world’s hairiest girl? Awful?
Not as bad as you’d expect! 11 year old Supatra Sasuphan was just listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s hairiest girl. She has Hypertrichosis – a condition which causes an excess of hair growth and which even laser hair removal seems unable to impact.
Her father tells The Telegraph: “When neighbours first saw her they asked what kind of sin I had done. I was very worried about what she would be when she grew up because of other children teasing her…But Supatra’s sweet nature quickly won over people in her community.”
And Supatra is in etremely good spirits.
She claims, “I’m very happy to be in the Guinness World Records! A lot of people have to do a lot to get in,” she said. “All I did was answer a few questions and then they gave it to me.”
Supatra hopes one day to become a doctor, “so I can help patients when they get injured. I want to help people who get hurt and help cure people.”
She still wants to be cured one day, but until then, she’s refusing to let her condition impact her life. She enjoys mathematics, swimming and hula-hopping with her friends. And if she ever wants a job blogging about inner beauty, yeah, we’ve got some openings here.
