      Dude, who told you?!

It was the 80s. Hairspray was thicker than blood. And much more flammable. And what dumb-ass put that candle right there in the middle of the table, anyway. You should know that is where I dance.

I was looking out of the window, admiring the snow on Christmas day in the middle of our meal, without noticing the candle next to my head. My dad felt the need to slap me hard on the head to extinguish the flame and the smell of burnt hair haunted me for weeks.

My friend did when we were kids, while she was blowing out her birthday candles. We got it on tape.

I did that once too. I had really, really long hair and it was my 12th birthday. My mom wanted a picture of all of us behind the table with the cake and I leaned over it a little too much. So we have a picture, but not video. My mom put it in my senior year book when I graduated high school.

Totally have. I leaned back into a candle once while I was telling a story to my boyfriend and his brother at a bar. It smelled awful and I was mortified because shit, I was the girl who set her hair on fire. I wasn’t even drunk either, just being expressive.

Usually when I’m drunk or stoned, hairsprayed up, and lighting a cigarette.

No… but I did set my duvet on fire once.

once during Easter vigil mass, i fell asleep while holding the candle

Twice. Both involved candles- one birthday related and one decorative… needless to say I don’t keep a lot of lit candles around anymore.

only every time i take a bong rip

My brothers and I have an infamous family story that involves a can of aerosol hairspray, matches, and the kitchen sink. My parents should not have left us home alone so often. Good thing hair grows back, including eyebrows.

My boyfriend did once when he was twelve. He recalls it as one of his less-than-intelligent moments.

There’s a bar in Vegas with candles at about shoulder-height. I have long hair and don’t pay attention to where I stand.

On the bright side, a few fellows tried to save my life.
