Isaac Mizrahi: Not A Fan of Galliano, Hopes He “Doesn’t Work Again”

Reaction in the fashion industry has been pretty mixed about Galliano: Karl Lagerfeld basically called him a wuss, Jean Paul Gaultier attempted to explain away his actions, and Olivier Zahm (horribly) seemed cool with it.

Last night, The Cut ran into Isaac Mizrahi and asked him what he thought, and well, no stuttering justifications or apologies came out:

“It can’t be tolerated. I guess I’m the wrong one to talk to, because I never really liked sort of what he did so much. I liked better what McQueen did. I liked better what Vivienne Westwood did. So now I don’t like it, and he’s a Jew hater? I was like, buh-bye.”

As for Galliano’s work, Mizrahi calls it:

“…A pretty picture that had absolutely no relation to the world I live in… And I refer to him in the past tense, because I don’t think he’ll work again. I hope not. I hope he doesn’t work again.”

Though I’m glad to see fashion industry types speaking out and not tolerating Galliano’s behavior (like Dior face Natalie Portman), I’m still reluctant to believe that Galliano’s an actual bigot. And not, you know, a prominent celebrity being a drunk idiot.

Anyway, here’s all of our Galliano coverage.
