Andrej Pejic Wants You To Stop Trying to ‘Categorize’ Him

Block Magazine is celebrating the otherwordly beauty of Andrej Pejic with an editorial “Boy Wonder” and interview (always a nice get for a non-supermodel). When they asked him about whether or not he was comfortable being the face of a new movement in androgyny alongside Lea T, he said:

Well I don’t think my situation and Lea T’s are completely different when it comes to our personal lives but that’s personal, for me at least. And I really think people should stop trying to categorize me because of their need for labels. When it comes to our professional lives, well she only does women’s wear and I think I cover more fields. Some people in the industry will use us in a very similar way to represent similar ideas and some will want me to be a bit different from her – more androgynous, more boyish or even sex-less rather than womanly. I think professionally I am capable of being very versatile.

TheGloss is always psyched to see Andrej, but I think he’s dead right: he is versatile. Moreover, in the short time it’s taken him to rule the male modeling world, I’ve already gotten kind of bored with yet another editorial of Andrej Pejic wearing a dress. Yes, he’s gorgeous and delicate and feminine, but it would be a lot more interesting if every image of him didn’t hinge on that feminine quality.

I have never been as fascinated by a model as I am with Andrej. There is just something about him (in men or women’s clothing) I can’t get enough of.

the only thing I categorize him as is sexy…SO sexy.
But, yeah, it is getting really annoying that all people seem to focus on is the superficial shock value of him wearing feminine clothing; especially since I never found it all that shocking to begin with…just sexy.

i think it ultimately does him a disservice. i’d hate to see someone as gorgeous as Pejic become stale because every time he turns up it’s in a dress and he’s styled like a woman. there’s too great a model in there to see him pigeon-holed this early in his career.
