Do You Like Seeing Models And Junk Food Together?

Look, I love cupcakes. And all kinds of junk food, really. But I’m always somewhat perplexed when advertisers or fashion editors want to group them together with models – which seems to happen all the time lately. I find I always roll my eyes a little and think “come on, incredibly spray tanned Besame model. We all know you are not going to eat that cupcake.” And they’re not. It’s not that models are eating the cupcakes in some attempt to be a down to earth normal girl. They’re always just holding them out, beckoning, or staring at them. I feel like editorials are setting us up to see sweets as the last temptation to which people can give into. In these editorials and advertisements, they seem showcased as almost more desirable than the fashion or the products. Kind of weird? Little bit?

Hm, I never thought of it that way. I always figured photographers used cupcakes because they’re an easy way to slip colour and cuteness into a shot.

Any time I’m with a friend/relative (male or female) and an ad like this appears, someone always says, “Like she eats ____.”

What about Crystal Renn’s eating editorial? People were grossed out by it because of the way it looked so messy and gluttonous, but I feel like they were accepting of it in a somewhat realistic sense, not that C.R. is a binge eater, but because she is fuller figured, or was fuller figured, than these women.

I’d gladly never touch another cupcake for as long as I live in exchange for the corset in #5
