The first time that you meet your partner’s parents can be a time of great joy and anticipation, and also a time of gastrointestinal-havoc-wreaking anxiety.

That said, there are often words that go spoken at that once-in-a-lifetime meeting that one wishes one could retract at a later date. In general, they include inadvertently offending, blurting out things about your political beliefs and telling off-color jokes.
