Bidding for Princess Beatrice’s royal wedding hat, which famously resembles a woman’s reproductive system, is near its end, and it looks as though it will fetch over $33,000. The money will go to UNICEF and for Children in Crisis, and according to PopEater, Beatrice has taken the flak she got for the fallopianistic fascinator in stride:
In the eBay description, Princess Beatrice writes, “I’ve been amazed by the amount of attention the hat has attracted. It’s a wonderful opportunity to raise as much money as possible for two fantastic charities. I hope whoever wins the auction has as much fun with the hat as I have.”
Good for her. Honestly, I think there is a 50% chance that I would have fallen down a rabbit hole of despair if I were on the receiving end of all that international criticism (what can I say, I’m not as thick-skinned) so I give Beatrice a huge amount of credit for being able to laugh it off and do something positive, instead of going out and getting wasted and being photographed stepping out of a limo with no underwear on.
I guess what she’s doing is what the British call “class.”
