Campaigns: Angelina Jolie Supposedly Not Wearing Makeup In Her Louis Vuitton Ads… Lies.

The world has finally been gifted with Angelina Jolie’s Annie Leibovitz-shot Louis Vuitton ads and the WWD coverage opens with this peculiar introduction:

She’s barefoot, wearing her own clothes, no makeup and toting her own elegantly weathered monogrammed Alto bag. Yet Angelina Jolie looks radiant and completely in her element, reclining on a wooden boat in a verdant, lakeside landscape in Cambodia’s Siem Reap province. Jolie discovered the country in 2000 when she filmed “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider,” and it sparked her humanitarian activism. [...] She’s the latest celebrity to pose for Louis Vuitton’s popular “Core Values” campaign.

At first I picked up on the word “values” and was like, okay, posing in impoverished Cambodia with a Louis Vuitton bag isn’t so bad if it’s for charity. But then it turns out by “values” they mean “luxury adventures.”

Vuitton introduced the advertising concept in 2007 as a way to trumpet its travel roots and showcase its perennial monogrammed leather goods as a balance to its fashion-driven marketing — and to reach a broader audience. Other personalities who have posed for Vuitton include Mikhail Gorbachev, Keith Richards and Catherine Deneuve.

So all I have to take from this is: please. She’s obviously wearing makeup. Jolie is genetically blessed but she wasn’t born with a flawless smokey eye.

If she’s really not wearing any make up…well, they photoshopped the make up later.

I think the best part is that the bag she’s carrying is no longer sold new.

it’s true! but they’re bound to rerelease it now.

This ad is gross! The bag looks hideous and inappropriate. Like you would just be a complete dickhead to take that bag into that setting in the first place.

What the hell does it matter if she’s wearing makeup or not? What’s the message here? That’s she’s beautiful with a totally unmade up face? Come on, we’ve seen Angie without makeup & she’s pretty……………THAT’S IT! Nothing more, nothing less. She’s not an unhuman, breathtaking beauty. But, someone seems to think saying she’s without makeup……….HA! What a joke. That someone must think we’re idiots.
