Video: “Educated” Woman Makes An Ass Of Herself On MetroNorth Train

Today, in award winning douchebaggery! A woman riding MetroNorth’s New Haven line either to or from Connecticut (my home state, sigh) was filmed berating a train conductor after said conductor asked her to keep it down in response to several complaints from other passengers. Apparently, she was talking loudly and cursing in front of a bunch of children, an activity us New Englanders do not take kindly to.

This is the point at which most reasonable people would blush and promise to be quiet, but a creature of reason she was not. Instead, she went on an insane, snotty tirade about how well educated she is, leaving everyone around her to snicker and gawk at the drama unfolding before them. “Excuse me, do you know what schools I’ve been to and how well educated I am?” she asked the conductor lady, as if no educated person could possibly be an asshole. “I’m not a crazy person, I’m a very well educated person,” she continued, as if no educated person could possibly be crazy. (Protip: If you find yourself yelling “I’m not crazy!” at people a lot, you might want to take a long hard look at the veracity of that statement.) And then, in an effort to clinch the Asshole of the Week Award, she brought up some borderline racial shit by saying, “I’m sorry, do you think I’m a little hoodlum?” Oh dear.

For her part, the conductor remained impressively calm in a situation in which most people would probably want to give her a piece of their minds. The woman was eventually ejected, and the conductor reportedly reminded passengers to behave, “especially those people who went to Harvard or Yale or are from Westport.” Burn!!!

The Internet being what it is, the woman was quickly revealed to someone named Hermon Raju who, according to Google’s cache of her LinkedIn profile, went to a lowly non-Ivy, appears to be currently unemployed, and probably makes way less money than the (unionized) transit workers she treated so contemptuously. How…ironic? It’s a pretty harsh lesson to be exposed on the Internet like this, but if that’s what it takes for her to examine her actions and realize she’s been bad, it’s only going to help her in the long term.

Witness the insanity below or over at Gawker, and remember: someone is always watching.
