Entenmann’s Makes A Joke As Tasteless As Their Pastries

In the wake of today’s “not guilty” verdict in the Casey Anthony trial, many people tweeted some moderately dumb things. There was a lot of competition for the title, but the dumbest tweet of all was written by some poor intern over at pastry company Entenmann’s, who seemed to have no clue what was going on (or did they???).

The following tweet was posted earlier today, to various cries of “LOL WUT?” and “TOO SOON”:

Was Entenmann’s trying out an “edgy” new look wherein the deaths of innocent children were fair game for observational dessert humor? Quick, someone get Gavin McInnes on this account before he’s snapped up by Hostess!

Thankfully, this was not how they meant it. Apparently, the geniuses at Entenmann’s were too busy huffing powdered sugar and figuring out which chemicals would make their “soft baked” cookies dissolve even more strangely in your mouth to bother reading the news today, and took the “#notguilty” trending topic completely out of context. They quickly deleted the original tweet, and put up a couple of apologies in its place:

And thus, Entenmann’s’ career as the Odd Future of the pre-packaged pastry world was over before it began. Now, everyone breathe a sigh of relief and have a cookie. But not an Entenmann’s one, because they are gross.

UPDATE: And now there’s a joke twitter called Entenmann’s PR. God bless the Internet.

I think I’m going to have to buy one of their pastries now.

Mainly because anything that distracts us from obsessing about missing and/or tragically passed white girls is a good thing and needs to survive.

Yeah, who gives a damn about those murdered children? They had it coming with their white privilege.

I care more about the droves of immigrant children driven into sex trafficking.

You know, the ones people don’t give a shit about because they’re not pretty and white and middle-class and only suspected of being murdered.

But hey, Caylee sure was a cutiepie, so you go right on ahead and direct all your anger and judgement at her mom miss Sidney.

I feel like this should be obvious, but why not push for people to care about all kids, rather than just expressing vitriol about the white ones?

      • sidney

Really, epilonious? I got the impression that you cared more about, you know, bad pastry.

Eileen: I was expressing vitriol at America’s (and for the most part Western Culture’s) obsession with White ones. As if adorable light-skinned females are the most precious thing America produces and bad things happening to /them/ is the last straw that makes people think it’s The Right Thing To Do to publicly condemn women they don’t know from Eve all over the Internet.

Sidney: Alas, that was just my sneaky way of luring people in by their own incredulity. Now whenever another precious light skinned female shows up in the news, you’ll likely remember the unpleasant interaction with some asshole from the Internet and think about all the other kids not being treated in any decent manner. Not that you weren’t before.

In general I agree with you, epilonious. Just sometimes when people are all like OMG WHITE PEOPLE!!!11 for everything it pisses me off (even though I am, believe it or not, mostly nonwhite).
