The Hottest Men In Young Adult Fiction

Few things fill a young (or post quarter-life) heart more than the men she meets in the “young adult” books she reads. From Anne of Green Gables to (gulp) Twilight, each page of these books is filled with love, heroism and… kissing. A lot of highly-described, will-they-or-won’t-they kissing. Yes, yes, they support multidimensional heroines and often promote female empowerment and self-discovery, but more importantly, they often take off their shirts. And what lies under those shirts? Pure, post-pubescent hotness.

I present to you The 10 Hottest Men in Young Adult Fiction.

What about Marcus Flutie from Megan McCafferty’s Jessica Darling series?

      • sylphish

I cam here to post the exact same thing. Marcus Flutie forever!

      • sylphish

        Ugh. *came.

    • Odbery

Zane from the Uglies series? He was literally engineered to be beautiful!

      • Rose D.

Totally agree! I was disappointed he wasn’t on here.

    • Laura

You missed Jace from Cassandra Clare’s Mortal Instruments series. Actually, there are several others from that series too. Tattooed, bad-ass, demon-killers. yes.

She also has a steampunk novel, Clockwork Angel, which the first in a series called the Infernal Devices that features similarly tattooed hotties Will and Jem.

      • Joy Engel

Please don’t hate me, but I did not like Mortal Instruments! I think Jace is cute, but he is no Four!

      • Kelly Russell

I am in love with William Herondale. I honestly am in love with him.

    • miinxi

ALEXANDER from The Bronze Horseman (Paullina Simons)
      DREAM MAN.

    • Magda

I’m always disappointed with the film adaptations of my favorite books With the exception of Christian Bale as Laurie, they are never quite what I imagined. Case and point, Sirius Black from Harry Potter.

      • Joy Engel

When I first read the series at like 15, I kept hoping JK would introduce some American witch teacher at hogwarts and that she and Sirius would fall in love. And that never happened. And then Gary Oldman played him in the movie. And my dreams, life, etc were all crushed.

    • Eileen

I never got the appeal of Sirius. I kind of liked Lupin, though.

But Michael from Forever, really? He was the blandest, most boring character ever – I don’t even remember anything about him except that he was always pressuring Katherine for sex and that he’d gotten VD from a prior girlfriend.

      Word on Gilbert Blythe, though.

      • Crystal

Yes! Lupin! And then he was played by David Thewlis who I always had a weird thing for… it was perfect! Unfortunately his character in the later books never seemed to come close to how charming he was in Prisoner of Azkaban. Disappointing!

Ha, and I totally forgot how cute Gilbert Blythe (or, that actor who played him anyway) was!

*coughs* Jace Wayland/Lightwood/Herondale *coughs* From the Mortal Instruments series will always be in my top hottest men in young adult fiction. You may not have liked the series but Jace is just so swoon worthy.

Patch from the book series Hush,Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick was another one although I didn’t like him so much in the second book. I like to revisit the first book from time to time for good memories

And also have you ever read the Dark Visions series? by LJ Smith? I’ve always thought Gabriel from that series was amazing. I think he has to be my one of my favorites out of all the books i have read. As a matter of fact this page reminded me of this book and I will most likely be reading it again after I post this.

I wish I had a list of all the books I have read in the past 4 or 5 years just so I can be reminded of all my favorite guys. Thanks for posting this! I may not have agreed with all of them but it really makes me want revisit a lot of books that I haven’t read in a while. Thanks again!

      • Joy Engel

Maybe I need to go back and give Mortal Instruments another shot. I read it right after the Hunger Games and I wanted it to be something to fill that void in my life, and it just didn’t/ And then I read Divergent, and nothing will ever be better than Divergent.

I’ll pick up Dark Visions next, thanks for the tip!

      • Kelly Russell

JUST TMI?…What about Will and Jem from Infernal Devices?

    • Megan

This is the best comment discussion on thegloss, ever.

I love my husband, but I’d consider leaving him for Gilbert Blythe. And, as long as you’re in LM Montgomery land, I think you have to put Teddy Kent up there, too.

      • Joy Engel

TEDDY KENT. The thing is, there are just too many amazing men in YA fiction to keep it to just 10. But Teddy Kent. My god.

    • ray hadley

      he looks like Rachael Maddow.

    • ari

Where is Fang from “Maximum Ride”? Tall, dark, broody, handsome… with wings. Yessss.

    • Juliet

Where is /Finnick/? He’s hotter than Peeta, like legit stated in the book, he’s crazy in love with Annie (and how I wish I was her, madness and all, sometimes), and he is just such a deep and great character that it’s just. WHERE IS HE?!

    • Arnie

Captain Lord Richard Allen from L.A. Meyer’s Bloody Jack series. Oh how I loved that man. Wild proclamations of love from a cavalry man, who shuns his very well off family, because he disagrees with their politics, and defends your honour in many a battle, all in a very fetching 1805 Captain of Cavalry uniform.

And who doesn’t love a man who calls you “Princess Prettybottom”?

    • Sarah

Where is Mr Darcy? He was beyond the hottest fictional characters ever created? Admit it, you all fell in love with him at some point. ‘You must allow me to tell you how most ardently I admire and love you.’ COME ON, WHO DIDN’T SWOON AT THAT? :’( And Murtagh from Inheritance isn’t here either. I absolutely loved him, the tortured mysterious bad guy type. READ THE INHERITANCE CYCLE ALL OF YOU

      • Kelly Russell

OMFG FINALLY SOMEONE WHO APPRECIATES MURTAGH!!! I have read all four books in Inheritence more times than I can count and Murtagh remains my favourite character of all time (with the possible exceptions of Puck from Iron Fey and Will Herondale from Infernal Devices). He is amazing. That is all there is to say.
