Awesome Or Offensive: Check Out This Crown Of Thorns Headband

Our lovely lady friends over at OfaKind have really outdone themselves: their latest collaboration (with designer Gigi Burris) has resulted in a pretty stunning statement piece: a leather handband that looks like… a crown of thorns. The description is as follows:

“Seamless grosgrain sourced in Paris, leather fashioned to look like barbed wire, black feathers that are both delicate and menacing.”

As much as I like to bitch about fashion appropriating religious imagery for supposed shock value, this seems actually inventive, fresh and (yeah) provocative. In addition to being downright subtle compared to, I don’t know, wearing a latex nun’s habit and swallowing a rosary, it’s an impressively original take on the classic tough/pretty balance.

Then again, I’m not really the kind to be offended by this. Are you? (If you’re not, snatch one up before they go!)

Sorry! This poll is now closed.

Let’s look at it some more:

Ashley, Lily Pulitzer does not make such a thing.

This thing is fucking awesome. Too bad I don’t buy leather and am not willing to spend $150 on a freakin’ headband.

Are you sure, Jen? I thought I saw a pink and green polka-dotted version in Lilly P’s window, right next to the Shroud of Turin Tennis Whites and the Calvery-cute Shift Dress.

PS: Ofakind really missed an opportunity by not changing 30 dollars for this. Thirty silver dollars! Bam! Thanks everybody, I’ll be here all week, tip your waitress!
