Christian Louboutin Makes Latest Heels Out Of Trash, Charges $1000

Now they’re fucking with us: Christian Louboutin just showered his latest shoes in trash. The heels are made of garbage (PVC-glossed to stifle the gross) and lux snakeskin and sport the labels signature red heel. The garbage itself is the most upmarket kind, of course: “pieces of thread, postage stamps, scribbled notes, leftover sequins, and fabric swatches from seasons past” (so no two pairs are alike). They’re called the “Eco-Trash” pump and they cost $1,095.

So, on the one hand, collage is a big trend this season. On the other, this is tasteless, insofar as Louboutin is charging a grand for ugly shoes in a mocking nod to “eco-friendly” initiatives.

Sorry! This poll is now closed.

I actually don’t think they look that bad. Snakeskin = <3

What’s funny is I don’t hate the “trash” aspect. I actually think it’s an interesting idea and could totally see rocking that in NYC. I hate the leopard and snakeskin part. HATE it.

I think if they focused entirely on using materials left over from creating past or present season it would make the whole concept of “recycling” more interesting. Especially the feathers, sequins, snakeskin, thread, fabrics… they use such luxurious materials that it seems a shame that so much of the leftovers are wasted.
