Yesterday, we pointed out that we were disturbed by the images of Thylane Blondeau - because she’s ten and being photographed topless. Some of you pointed out that there’s a history of similar images and that we shouldn’t be shocked. So we looked up similar images and were shocked! At least by some of them.
That’s probably because we’re only used to thinking of child models in L.L. Bean catalogues. There’s obviously a wide range of the way young girls are portrayed by the fashion industry. But where does the line get crossed? Let’s look at some various depictions, each one of which strikes us as more disturbing than the last. You tell us when the images begin to seem inappropriate.
