What’s better than a three-piece mariachi band decked out in traditional Mexican garb, playing a tuneful song? Why, a three-piece mariachi band decked out in traditional Mexican garb, playing a tuneful song to a beluga whale, of course. The fact that this happened at the Mystic Aquarium in my home state of Connecticut makes me proud of my CT heritage for pretty much the first time in my life. Look at him, bopping along to those sweet mariachi tunes like just any other guest at the wedding. (There was a wedding at the aquarium. The mariachi band didn’t just appear out of nowhere.) Adorable.
According to Discovery.com, the whale’s name is Juno, he could definitely hear the music through the water, and he had ample room to get away if, for some reason, the mariachi band had not pleased him. I predict that a swift uptick in aquarium weddings will occur as a result of this video. The first of which will be mine, to that whale. His dance has enraptured me.
