SATC Back To TV: Can’t Anything Just Be A Memory?

In this newfangled time of Facebook and Twitter, where no one really remains in your past and no story, no matter how stupid, goes untold, it looks like Sex and the City may succumb to the never-say-die attitude of the digital age.

According to The Daily Mail:

‘Ultimately Darren Star – the man who created the hit series – will have the overall say, but everyone is agreed a TV show is the direction they want to take the franchise in,’ says my LA mole.

Now, I could write a whole post about the fact that someone at The Daily Mail claims to have “an LA mole,” and refers to this mysterious individual as such, but I’ve chosen not to do that, and instead to take this statement at as much face value as it warrants.

In keeping with that, I have only one question: WHY IS THERE STILL A FRANCHISE?!

SATC2 was such an unequivocal disaster, such a parody of itself, that for ladies like me who actually enjoyed the show back in the day, it came painfully close to ruining everything. What in the world makes them think that any scrap of this show even remains to be taken in any direction? Darren Star and SJP: we loved you, and we’ll always have a special place in our hearts for you, but it’s over.

Please stop trying to keep this thing going. Let’s all just move on, quietly, and let our fond memories of Sunday nights together stay happily in the past.

I am very interested in a new SATC TV season. And I thoroughly enjoyed all the movies, including the much maligned second movie. I guess that’s the difference between casual fans like the gloss and hard core ones likes me.

Presumably your definition of hardcore fans includes deaf, mute and blind as thats the only way ANYONE could think the second movie was even watchable

I, too, am interested in a new season, as long as it involves the original cast and not some revamp with an all new cast or just bringing back SJP and not the others. I will always give SATC at least a glimmer of a chance.

However, I do agree about the 2nd movie: it was a complete and utter travesty. So I don’t have too high hopes for this new season unfortunately. If the movie is an indication of the the show’s new direction, they can keep that shit.

It either needs to die or become a hell of a lot more like the Golden Girls, and sadly I don’t think they could pull of the later so death it is.
