Awesome Video ‘Genocide Chic’ Mocks Fashion’s Casual Racism & Cultural Appropriation

Please please watch this video from Brooklyn-based actress and smartass Daniella Pineda, who ruthlessly savages fashion’s frequent, tone-deaf cultural appropriation in under two minutes. As the story goes, designer “DW Diaz” was watching Legends of the Fall and thought, “ ’Oh my god, Native Americans are so cute.’ And then… a lightbulb went off! What if we could all be Native American? …For just a day?” This epiphany inspired a collection called Genocide Chic, featuring smallpox diamonds, 100% organic and biodegradable American buffalo blood and more.

It was hard to pick, but the best line may just be: “To me, genocide means out with the old, and in with the new.”

How about “Genocide Chic” in contrast to her “Nonsense” video portraying the best fashion has to offer in underwear? Daniella maybe be modeling ironically for a while.
