Grace Kelly, Marlene Dietrich and Marilyn Monroe Come To Creepy Life For Dior

Check out Dior’s weird new commercial for J’Adore. First you’re all like, oh, this is a typical campaign spot where a good-looking celebrity does glamorous things in flattering golden light, there’s a catwalk and flashbulbs because if there aren’t flashbulbs how will you know that it’s luxury? Then things get weird.

First, you wonder if you just saw Grace Kelly. Then you’r sure something is going on when Marlene Dietrich shows up. Then you see Marilyn Monroe cooing over a bottle of J’Adore and maybe you think to yourself, “I thought she wore Chanel No. 5?!” and then Charlize Theron takes to the runway and you have no clue what just happened.

The reanimated megastars are super creepy, right?

Hmmm, I don’t know. I’m torn between being fascinated and creeped out.

Super duper creepy! Something about the way “Marilyn’s” face moves straddles the line of the uncanny valley for me. Do not want!

Really? This is kind of awesome. I mean, yes, there is a little weird factor about Marilyn, but I am chalking that up to video editing that could have been better. She was a bit jerky. But everything else? And the song? Rockin’. :)

Maybe Charlize Theron has died and gone to celebrity purgatory. There she is doomed to walk the Dior catwalk forever. Clearly someone put a camera in there to discourage us from aspiring to be famous.

With all the creepy dead celebrities taken out I would love this commercial. Charlize Theron comes across as so badass and righteous. The “Monroe” was definitely uncanny valley and it creeps me out to no end. I know what my nightmares will be about tonight.

It’s both, and it works, because now I really want that perfume. don’t care what it smells like!

I’m not creeped out at all. This is a brilliant add.
Marlene Dietrick was famous for wearing “Shocking” by Schiaparelli
Grace Kelly wore “Joy” by Este Lauder
    Marily Monroe wore Chanel no.5
As Charlize enters, all of these stars turn an notice her. The are all enamored by her fragrance … J’Adore. Monroe is obviously ready to chuck her Chanel for J’Adore.
    Brilliant!

YES this ad is totally creepy! That’s why I looked up other opinions about it. The reanimated Marilyn Monroe is very strange. When you watch the commercial again watch for her creepy stretchy eyebrows! So were her features computer animated on a random models body? Very disturbing indeed.

I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t the only one weirded out by this commercial. The monroe fondling the bottle like a clueless child still freaks me out, and every single one of them look like they have 14 lbs of makeup on.
