Room Of The Day: Into The Great Wide Open

Having a room that can serve as an indoor and an outdoor space isn’t a luxury that many of us will ever have, either because of money constraints, space constraints, or weather constraints. But one L.A. couple, who built their own home on a lot in Culver City, figured out a way to make it work.

The room featured above is not only impeccably decorated in a traditional modern style, but it seems to open up into an enclosed area that doesn’t allow for creepers to constantly look in (which is always what I’ve thought would be the primary concern with a design like this).

David and Mayuko Lai also did a great job of making the inside actually like an inside, giving the whole space an interesting contrast. Well played, folks. Well played.

They should use their wall as a screen and get a movie projector!
