Male politicians may not get hounded about the appropriateness of their body parts as much as their female counterparts, but they certainly feel pressure to look a certain way: various outlets are speculating that Russian prime minister Vladimir Putin has had a little work done. Putin is 58-years-old and does look suspiciously bright eyed and bushy tailed here but why would he do such thing?
…Before anyone goes shouting, “Stop being naive! Everyone in the public eye does this!” I should say I find this weird because to me Vladimir Putin’s image is that of the barrel-chested giant on horseback, shirtless. Which is incongruous with the idea of him fretting about fine lines? Maybe?
I always figured wrinkles made one look wizened and experienced, but maybe politicians are now going for “surprised but strangely expressionless”?
