In 2007, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi purchased a little loveshack in Beverly Hills for a cool $27 million. Since moving in, they’ve added a pond and another three-bedroom house to the three-acre property, and now, they’re trying to turn it around and sell it for $49 million.
But! Not before featuring it on the cover and in a spread in Architectural Digest (or perhaps, as part of the selling process). According to the magazine, buying and selling houses is kind of an obsession for DeGeneres because of the way she was brought up:
“We never had a house when I was growing up,” DeGeneres explains, settling into an armchair on one of several terraces with panoramic views of L.A. “We always rented. But my father would dream, and we used to look at houses all the time. I’d pick out which bedroom would be mine and get all excited…The first thing I did when I made money was buy a house. And then—”
“Another one,” De Rossi says. “And another one and another one and another one…”
