Amanda Seyfried is all over the place promoting In Time (a film with many confused fashion statements) and subsequently has to wear a lot of figure-hugging cocktail dresses. She scored big at the LA premiere with an ethereal, off-the-runway Prabal Gurung but then fell pretty hard in the UK when she opted for an aqua shorts tuxedo by H&M. Aqua shorts tuxedo.
Sadly, she has missed the ball again: here’s Seyfried at yesterday’s In Time photocall in Berlin alongside costar Justin Timberlake. Now, some of you (some of you who are more charitable than us) might say this isn’t a disaster because, for example, it’s at least a nice color. Or it’s not a disaster in the sense that anything Aubrey O’Day or Lacey Schwimmer wears is an outright, full-on, eyeball-molesting disaster.
But don’t be deceived by the seeming restraint of the dress: it’s a bad fit and a drab, unflattering shape made a whole lot worse with some pointless cutouts. The length and bizarre flounce do her no favors. Last, she does the “Hollywood standard” move of pairing everything with nude platform stilettos, and for an actress who’ll opt for straight off-the-runway Prabal, that’s pretty disappointing.
We will admit that we have a personal vendetta against cutouts, though, and that’s on us.
