Gallery: Narrowing Down The Most Ridiculous Looks From The 2011 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show

At this point, it’s pretty obvious that the looks at the Victoria’s Secret fashion show are supposed to be ugly. It’s like one big, weird joke that the brand plays on people: take the world’s most conventionally attractive women, workshop their bodies beyond recognition for weeks with powdered milk and water fasting, and then obscure those bodies with the most comically, outrageously, unapologetically ugly shit on the planet. Here, we try and pick up the pieces from all the absurd outfits worn by Miranda Kerr, Adriana Lima, Candice Swanepoel, Chanel Iman, and the rest of the angels. We apologize to your eyeballs/brains in advance.

      Wow..jealous much?

While I dont approve of already very gorgeous Adriana Lima going on a ridiculous diet for this show. It’s pretty sad that you slam these girls for strutting their sexiness about. Every woman should do so every freakin day (albeit with more clothes in public). I suppose youve never worn a creative outfit in bed. I love the VS fashion show. It gives me even more ideas to try :). PS sexy superheroes are the shit!

I don’t think it’s possible to physically fit the giant flamenco hair comb cape thing through a bedroom door much less bump uglies in it. But whatever floats your boat I guess.

I, too, look to Victoria’s Secret for inspiring inspiration. There’s just not enough inspiring, sexy ladies strutting their sexiness in the world.

      • MM

Can’t women think something is fucking hilarious/goofy/stupid without being ‘jealous’? Gee.

      • Stella

Seriously. I didnt think this writer was ripping on the models as much as on the utterly idiotic shit they’re wearing. I actually have to hand it to the models that they were able to keep (mostly) straight faces walking down the runway. Miss Cee, I think you misunderstand.

Also, what MM said: It is possible to be critical without being jealous. Accusing people of jealousy is weak, middle-school stuff.

      • MM

Exactly. I have nothing against these women, nor do I think they are airheads (considering how much they make, the dumb move would be not to do it!). I just don’t understand how you can look at a woman with two umbrellas sprouting out of her shoulders and not think it is some pretty hilarious shit.

    • Cee

These girls put a lot of hard work into that. They shouldnt sacrifice their health, but if you watch the show, you see it takes MONTHS of preparation. They deserve some credit instead of belittling them and treating them like airheads…I wouldnt want to know how you treat a blonde on a day to day basis.

        I like Matisse, too!

    • Andrea

I love this fashion show! Yes, the outfits are absolutely ridiculous, but that’s the point! It’s fun, and the girls look absolutely amazing!

    • Celia

Um, those dragon wings are badass as hell. If every fashion show had those, the world would be a much better place.

I want to be your friend Celia

@ Cee I dont understand why these models should be applauded for starving themselves. im sure its hard work but its not hard work with any socially positive results. the only difference between them and your average anorexic is that they are paid to do what they do what they do, and i also i dont think teaching women that beauty is being an anemic lolly-pop dressed up as a children’s toy is particularly “creative” or fun. women should embrace their “hotness” and sexuality but i dont think the Victoria’s Secret show is representative of that, i think it ridicules beautiful women.

      Imhotep… Im-ho-tep.

      Awesome. I lol’d.

When I look at most of these girls, all I see is ribs. I used to get the standard “self esteem plunge” whenever VC’s show would come out, but I guess I’m getting over it with age.

The stuff is pretty ridiculous but way more entertaining than your standard couture show, so that’s cool.

Who cares if the costumes are “out there?” They’re fun to look at! And I have to agree with part of what MM said… with the money they make, they’d be stupid not to do it. I just think that when it comes to how they diet for their jobs, that’s on them. They work hard for what they do. No use getting up in arms over it, because it’s their bodies they’re running through the gauntlet– not yours.

obviously this journalist is just jealous that she doesn’t have the genetics and self-discipline to look this good. the costumes are supposed to be ridiculous, that’s the point of the show, i don’t understand the benefit of tearing down others’ hard work

I’m confused why fashion shows are like this… what is the point, exactly? What if people bought this shit and everyone wore these things to work? That would be crazy and uncomfortable. Physically uncomfortable as well, I’d imagine. I guess I’m just wondering why people get payed to design ridiculous clothes that no one would ever wear.
