Let’s be honest — Meryl Streep is kind of an ongoing badass, just lingering in the background, being a badass, then suddenly doing something so excessively badass that she gets singled out, like now.
This time, her badassery comes in the form of an interview on 60 Minutes that aired last night. In it, the formidable actress puts Morley Safer in his place when he asks her about playing a “strong-minded woman” in her upcoming movie, “The Iron Lady,” which is about Margaret Thatcher:
“No one has ever asked an actor, ‘You’re playing a strong-minded man…,’” she said. “We assume that men are strong-minded, or have opinions. But a strong-minded woman is a different animal.”
