The Editors Discuss: The Iron Lady And Margaret Thatcher

If you are unfamiliar with Margaret Thatcher and yet still reading this post, here’s a song that will explain absolutely nothing.

I’m still anti-Reagan. But Reagan did bring the full weight of the US’ military technological advantage down on the USSR, and this literally brought the Soviet economy to its knees by the mid ’80s. Gorbachev also suddenly existed in this timely occurrence of happenings. But it was Thatcher who gave Reagan credibility at a time when a lot of Americans were questioning it, especially in the early ’80s. She validated Reagan’s accelerated Arms Race policy, and it eventually lead to end of the Cold War.

I have been singing “Merry Christmas Maggie Thatcher” though out this whole piece. Too bad I only saw Billy Elliot the one time and other than “Merry Christmas Maggie Thatcher” I don’t know any of the words. I will be singing this all day now and have to look up the words. Thanks a lot guys!
